Eminem surprised customers by serving pasta during the grand opening of his Mom’s Spaghetti restaurant in downtown Detroit. On Wednesday (Sept. 29), the “Love the Way You Lie” emcee gave guests their food through the restaurant’s walk-up window. Fans were shocked and excited to Slim Shady and took to social media to share photos they took with him.

During the opening, the restaurant, which is located at 2131 Woodward Ave., served Mom’s Spaghetti for $9, Mom’s Spaghetti with Meatballs for $12, Spaghetti with Vegan Meatballs for $14, the S’ghetti Sandwich for $11 and a variety of soda and water for $3 each.

Em was also spotted at The Trailer — a store for his “stans” that features merch and memorabilia and is located right upstairs from his new restaurant.

As REVOLT previously reported, the restaurant name came from a bar in Em’s 2002 hit “Lose Yourself,” which he wrote for his film 8 Mile. In the song, the Detroit native rapped, “His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy/ There’s vomit on his sweater already, mom’s spaghetti/ He’s nervous, but on the surface, he looks calm and ready/ To drop bombs, but he keeps on forgettin’.”

Back in 2017, Em hosted a three-day Mom’s Spaghetti pop-up shop at the Shelter, a popular Detroit music venue, while promoting the release of his album Revival. The location featured exclusive merchandise and signature dishes inspired by his 8 Mile character.

Last April, during the beginning of the Coronavirus pandemic, the “Godzilla” rapper donated cups of spaghetti to the staff at Henry Ford Hospital. The hospital posted a photo of the food they received from Em and thanked him for his help. “Our #HealthcareHeroes ‘lost themselves’ in the delicious Mom’s Spaghetti donated by Detroit’s very own, @eminem. Thank you for providing a special meal for our team members!” the post read.
