Tomorrow (Sept. 24), Dear Evan Hansen is officially set to hit theaters everywhere and to properly prep for the big reveal, SZA has released her music video for “The Anonymous Ones” from the official soundtrack. The new Colin Tilley-directed visual opens up with a contemplative SZA alone in her room before she heads out into town on the bus and proceeds to walk around unnoticed. The track is a Carter Lang and Rob Bisel-produced effort that matches Dear Evan Hansen perfectly thanks to its emotionally charged subject matter:

“The anonymous onеs, never let you see the hate they carry, all those anonymous ones, never name the quiet pain they bury, keep on keeping secrets that they think they have to hide, what if everybody’s secret is they have that secret side? And to know, to know we’re not alone, is all we’re hoping for, I don’t wanna be anonymous, I ain’t gotta be anonymous, I don’t wanna be anonymous anymore…

Dear Evan Hansen is a musical drama that’s based off of a play of the same name. The film stars Ben Platt, Kaitlyn Dever, and Amandla Stenberg, and is centered around a teen who finds himself thrown into a series of events as a result of a tragic suicide.

SZA shook the music world when she released her debut LP Ctrl over four years ago, which saw 14 tracks and additional features from Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, James Fauntleroy, and Isaiah Rashad. The project was a massive success for the St. Louis-to-New Jersey talent, charting across the globe and scoring SZA multiple Gold and Platinum plaques. Since then, she deliver some top tier loose singles like “Good Days” and “Hit Different” with Ty Dolla $ign. She also recently liberated three songs on her Soundcloud account.
