The Scottish talent’s latest sees production from Henri Davies.

It’s been a couple of years since Emeli Sandé released her third studio LP REAL LIFE, a critically acclaimed offering featuring notable singles like “Sparrow,” “Extraordinary Being,” “Shine,” and “You Are Lot Alone.” Since then, the Scottish songstress has blessed us with top tier cuts and collaborations like “One of a Kind” with Ronan Keating, “I’ll Get There (The Other Side),” “Prayed Up,” “More of You” with Stonebwoy and Nana Rogues, and “Intermission,” the last of which was accompanied by a message from Sandé announcing a break from the world to finish her new album:

“I’m taking a break offline now to focus fully on finishing the next album and to prepare for when I can perform live for you again. I’m so excited to share this next one with you, I want it to be perfect and to give it my full concentration!”

Following an official return to social media over the past weekend, Sandé delivers a brand new single titled “Family,” a Henri Davies-produced effort that also sounds like an update on where she and her loved ones are now, both physically and mentally:

“The sun is out and the family’s good, and we’re living life like we always knew we could, it’s lovely, I took a little time out just to meditate and my spirit said, ‘Why you always late?’ I’m sorry, I’ve got a need for speed and a head for dreams, but I had to slow down…”

“Family” also comes with a new visual courtesy of Lewis Cater, which begins with Sandé talking a walk on an empty street. Upon being joined by a couple of onlookers, she then breaks out into a choreographed routine in a parking lot, with more adding to the group as the clip continues on. It all ends with her elevated above her circle of fellow dancers, looking into the sky.
