The singer has worked closely with both producers.

Usher has chimed in on conversations regarding a Verzuz battle between hitmakers Diddy and Jermaine Dupri. Recently, while in Hollywood, TMZ pulled up on the singer — who has worked closely with both stars — and asked him about his thoughts on the potential matchup.

“Being a part of the hits that [Dupri] has, I can’t say that,” he said of Diddy’s claim that the So So Def star’s discography fared in comparison to that of the Bad Boy exec. “He has plenty of hits, and I think that Diddy does, too. It’s hard for me, ‘cause they both my brothers,” he went on, adding, “It could definitely be a great one.”

Overall, the Confessions star believes that Verzuz is more of a celebration than competition and is eager to see any and all battles featuring some of music’s G.O.A.T.s.

“I don’t think one is greater than the other,” Usher said of collaborators Dupri and Diddy. “If it were JD and Puff, or it was Dre and Puff, or it was Tip and 50 — That’s the one I really wanna see. Tip and 50.”

While the Diddy and Dupri Verzuz has been pitched for some time, the conversation reignited on Tuesday (Sept. 14) amid Fat Joe and Ja Rule’s Madison Square Garden battle. The competition prompted the Atlanta producer to challenge Puff to a Verzuz, but the New York native was less than interested.

“Beloved you my nigga but your arms too short to box with God!!!” Diddy wrote. “You ain’t got enough hits. I’ll smash you with just Biggie n Mary [J. Blige]. But I do have the upmost [sic] respect on you as a musical legend. [Dr.] Dre the only one [who] can get in the ring w me.”
