Rev. Jesse Jackson’s wife is finally recovering at home after a two-week battle with Coronavirus at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital. As reported by REVOLT, 77-year-old Jacqueline Jackson was admitted into the hospital’s ICU after being diagnosed with the deadly virus and received supplemental oxygen. According to a statement from the Jackson family, she was able to return to her Chicago home on Friday (Sept. 3).

Our mother is leaving the Northwestern Memorial Hospital and coming home,” the family’s statement read. “Our family is grateful to God and the medical team that treated her and that is allowing her body to continue to heal from the COVID-19 virus.”

Jonathan Jackson, one of the couple’s five children, previously told the Associated Press that Jacqueline did not get vaccinated against the Coronavirus because of a “preexisting condition.” She was reportedly able to breathe on her own with some help from an oxygen machine, but was never placed on a ventilator. Thankfully, she will now be able to continue her recovery at home.

Rev. Jackson, on the other hand, is still receiving treatment at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab for his Parkinson’s Disease. Jesse was fully vaccinated against COVID-19 earlier this year, but contracting the virus aggravated his Parkinson’s symptoms. The 79-year-old civil rights leader was diagnosed with the disease in 2017 and is currently receiving “intensive occupational and physical therapy” at the rehabilitation center.

On Sunday (Sept. 5), Jesse Jackson Jr. announced on Instagram that his father is now Coronavirus free.

“Covid Negative. Amen,” he captioned a photo of his dad at the treatment center.

As reported by REVOLT, Jonathan revealed his parents were sick with Coronavirus last month and asked for prayers.

“We continue to receive the love that is being poured out to our family from around the world and it is greatly appreciated as we express our love and concern for the millions of people who have been victimized by the COVID-19 virus and its variants,” the family said in a statement. “We know this is a dangerous disease so please remain prayerful for all of those who are suffering as a result.”
