Master P is sending a helping hand to Louisiana by means of clean drinking water, TMZ reports. The hip hop mogul, who hails from New Orleans, spoke with the outlet in Beverly Hills, California on Tuesday (Aug. 31) about the devastating effects of Hurricane Ida.
“The lights have been out for a while. No phone access… It’s gonna take all of us to come together,” he said of the current power outage, which affected over a million people in southern Louisiana. Along with no electricity, residents have also had to face sweltering temperatures, no running tap water and a dwindling supply of gasoline.
To help where he can, Master P said his beverage company, LA Great, is distributing bottled drinking water and emergency supplies in New Orleans and other affected areas. “If you need some help, need some assistance, we’re gonna make sure people get water. Make sure we’re able to feed our people and help them get back,” Master P told TMZ. The 54-year-old added that he’ll be heading to his home city to help with on-the-ground efforts soon.
“New Orleans — it’s a lot of love in that city even though we go through a lot of devastations and tragedies,” he said. “We’re gonna overcome.”
As reported by REVOLT, Hurricane Ida hit Louisiana on Sunday (Aug. 29) as a Category 4 storm. Now a tropical depression, the storm has caused at least four deaths and left over a million people without power.
“We have a lot of work ahead of us and no one is under the illusion that this is going to be a short process,” Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards said on Tuesday.
