SportsCenter breaks silence after alleged Drake hack

Today’s (Aug. 27) broadcast was interrupted by a cryptic announcement about the release date for ‘CLB.’

SportsCenter is addressing rumors that Drake hacked Friday’s morning’s (Aug. 27) broadcast to hint at the release date for his upcoming album. Hours after the minor disturbance, the sports program’s Twitter account shared a post, chalking the disruption to “technical difficulties.”

“We want to apologize for any interruptions viewers might have experienced during SportsCenter this morning,” the tweet read. “We had some technical difficulties that have since been resolved.”

Though the news program failed to specify what “interruptions” they were speaking about, fans of Drake and social media users are well aware of what they are referencing. As REVOLT previously reported, the morning show’s typical broadcast was interrupted by the playing of a cryptic video.

In the clip, a hooded figure was spotted holding up a sign that read, “CLB September 3.” Fans attributed the announcement to an alleged hack by Drake, who has long been teasing his Certified Lover Boy project, but the revelation that the release date for Kanye West’s Donda is the same day sparked interesting conversations on Twitter.

“Nigga Kanye West Doing All This At His Listening Shows Just To Sell Under 150k When Drake Only Did A Quick Wwe Return Snippet For CLB & Gonna Sell 200k First Week,” wrote one Drizzy fan.

September 3rd HISTORY will be made. Kanye West Versus Drake in real life !!!” added another person. “The 2 biggest male artist since 2010 will go head to head to see who the top dog is I cant wait!!”

Prior to the chatter surrounding Ye and Drake’s Sept. 3 album release date, tensions between the emcees reignited when Drake mentioned the Chicago emcee on his verse for Trippie Redd’s “Betrayal.” Kanye allegedly posted the rapper’s Toronto address in what many deemed to be his reaction to the song. He has since deleted the post.
