“HB2U” acts as the closer for Rashad’s latest album ‘The House is Burning.’

Back in July, Isaiah Rashad finally blessed the world with his long-awaited sophomore LP The House is Burning, which sees 16 tracks with additional features from Lil Uzi Vert, Duke Deuce, Smino, Jay Rock, Jay Worthy, YGTUT, SZA, 6LACK, and more. As expected, The House is Burning was met with critical acclaim — it also earned Rashad a top ten placement on the Billboard 200 thanks to 41,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release. To date, the Chattanooga, TN talent has liberated visuals from the project for “Lay Wit Ya,” “Headshots (4r da Locals),” “Wat U Sed,” and “From the Garden.”

Earlier this week (August 23), Rashad made a visit to COLORS to perform “HB2U” (or “Happy Birthday 2 U”), the closing cut from The House is Burning that sees production from Kal Banx, Rory Behr, The Antydote, and Crooklin. The track sees Rashad in full reflection of past struggles and life thus far:

“Always looking for a good time, Sunny, that just my first name, don’t holler ‘bout your father incentive, it’s just a birthday, and a warning for repeatin’ a cycle would be the worst way, them hoes always callin’ my number like it’s a jersey, them hoes always treatin’ my Johnson like he a person, no matter what could happen, what happened to havin’ purpose? Translate for you scratchin’ the surface, motherfucker, I need my payback…”

In addition to The House is Burning, fans will also get to see Rashad on tour this fall. Dubbed “Lil’ Sunny’s Awesome Vacation,” said tour kicks off next month (September 8) in Boston and will hit plenty of big and small cities throughout the United States and Canada before closing up shop in Rashad’s hometown (November 9). Hopefully, none of those dates will have to be altered due to the still-active pandemic.
