The 18th anniversary of the 40/40 Club in New York is approaching, and JAY-Z is planning to celebrate it in a big way. The entrepreneur will be hosting an event and has invited a slew of fellow A-Listers to be there.
Per reports, Hov extended invitations to the likes of Diddy, Lil Uzi Vert, Bobby Shmurda, Meek Mill, Rapsody, Remy Ma and Robert Kraft — the owner of the New England Patriots owner. They all received a special hourglass partially filled with black sand — a representation of the countdown to the club’s reopening.
The 40/40 Club launched in 2003 and has since been frequented by pop stars and mentioned in a plethora of hip hop songs.
On Aug. 4, following its COVID-19 related closure, the restaurant reopened its doors and has been working on hiring employees to fill the 100 vacancies for chefs, food vendors and bartenders, who will all reportedly get paid $20 an hour.
The party for 40/40’s anniversary is slated to go down on Aug. 28 at the New York City venue, but it’s not the only Hov accomplishment worthy of a celebration. Within the last few weeks, fans learned that the Brooklyn entrepreneur and Roc Nations Sports teamed up with GameSquare’s Gaming Community Network, Inc. (GCN), to create original athlete-centric strategies like live streaming events, gaming content production and content syndication for the GCN Network and esports tournaments.
JAY — who was named one of the new faces of Tiffany & Co. alongside his wife Beyonce — also invested in the $18 billion Fanatics company by Michael Rubin, who he teamed up with in his venture to apply for an online sports betting license. Additionally, the rapper and his cannabis company recently made history when they hired Troy Datcher as their new chief executive officer. On Sept. 8, when he starts his position, he will officially become the first Black CEO to run a major, public cannabis organization in the United States.
