Joe Budden teases rap return

The podcaster hasn’t rapped in six years.

After six years, Joe Budden may possibly make his musical return. During the latest episode of his self-titled podcast, he teased his return when calling Benny the Butcher out for a potential collaboration.

Benny, we gon’ rap together one day,” he said. “And you not gon’ say that Butcher Coming shit when I’m there. We gon’ rap together one day, and I gotta get to tuck that The Butcher is Coming away.” Getting wind of the tweet, the Butcher took things a bit further and offered to choose all the beats for Joe’s next record.

“lol let me pick all the beats for a new @JoeBudden tape and drop it on @BSFRecords would be crazy trust me,” Benny tweeted, to which Budden responded with eyeball emojis.

Per usual, TIDAL’s Elliot Wilson noticed the exchange, tweeting “BSF Budden,” and the Mood Muzik rapper responded with a promise: “I’ll be back outside soon….. KTSE!!!” he said.

Budden transitioned from music to podcasting nearly six years ago, turning down multiple offers to feature on rappers’ tracks along the way. In an episode of his podcast, he expressed gratitude for his existence and the success he’s been able to see outside of his music career.

“It’s been six years since I’ve rapped. Wow. Like think about that,” he said. “The only thing I ever knew how to do. My one love, my one passion, the one way I’ve taken care of myself my entire life, it’s been six years since I did that. I’m blown away by that.”

He then addressed some of the fans and critics who told him that he’s changed. “When they say you changed, they be saying it like it’s an insult,” Budden went on. “Yes, thank the Lord up above. If ya’ll was really in tune with the dude that was talking that shit, you should’ve been praying for change. It was nuts.”
