Yendry, a singer-songwriter raised in the Dominican Republic and Italy, has tapped in with Damian Marley for her latest single “You.” The two joined forces for an accompanying music video directed by Kieran Khan. The new track is expected to appear on her forthcoming debut album. For the opening words, Yendry and Damian take turns delivering their lyrics, bouncing off each other’s energy effortlessly:

You, I can see that you’re a hunting boy, you wanna waste my time/ You, you are the loving that I want employ/ You are the loving that I want enjoy, I’m not staying over tonight but if you had to choose, would you see me twice

We keep on playing with fire/ Someone’s gonna loose burning in desire/ Wasted promises that we don’t intend to keep/ Love has many layers there’s so much underneath/ Warm and easy turns into complication

If folks want to hear more of Yendry, the songstress dropped off a few singles this year, including “Se Acabo” featuring Mozart La Para and “Ya.” She also appeared on Emotional Oranges’ June album The Juicebox. Back in 2020, she stopped by the coveted COLORS STUDIOS to deliver performances of her song “Barrio” and “Nena.”

In terms of other collaborations, Damian Marley recently joined Common and PJ for their remix of “What Do You Say” from last year’s A Beautiful Revolution (Pt. 1). It’s been four years since Damian Marley released his last studio album Stony Hill, an 18-track offering with a couple of assists from brother Stephen and Major Myjah. Not only did Stony Hill top Billboard’s Reggae Albums chart, it also earned Damian a Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album. Since then, the Jamaican legend could be heard providing his talents to other releases, including Ty Dolla $ign’s “So Am I,” Karol G’s “Love With A Quality,” and JAY-Z’s “Bam.”
