It looks like Fat Joe has the perfect anthem for your post-quarantine activities. This past weekend, the legendary emcee teamed up with long-time collaborators Remy Ma and Cool & Dre for the new single “Back Outside,” which samples Frankie Beverly & Maze’s 80’s classic “Before I Let Go.” As such, the artists can be heard in full-on celebration mode throughout the nostalgic cut:

“It’s her birthday, shine the light on her, put a Richie on her wrist, real bright on her, Gaultier dress on her hips, real tight on her, her man left to get a drink, got right on her, I go to work, bring it down, do the twerkulator, spin it ‘round, got a spot, we can take it uptown, told her, ‘Yeah, baby, we outside now…’”

“Back Outside” follows “Sunshine (The Light),” an equally dance-worthy number by Fat Joe, DJ Khaled, and viral DJ-producer Amorphous — that song flipped Rihanna’s “Kiss It Better” and Luther Vandross’ “Never Too Much.” Prior to that, the Terror Squad alum teamed up with Dre in 2019 for the joint LP Family Ties, which contained 11 cuts with plenty of contributions from Jeremih, Bryson Tiller, Big Bank, Cardi B, Anuel AA, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Wayne, and — of course — Remy Ma, who delivered her show-stealing verse on the standout track “Big Splash.” Both Joe and Remy dropped their own full-length — the well-received Plata O Plomo — in 2019, which boasted the multi-platinum single “All The Way Up.”

Press play on Fat Joe, Remy Ma, and Cool & Dre’s “Back Outside.” In related news, we should all continue to remain as careful as possible while back outside — the highly contagious delta variant has reportedly become the dominant culprit for coronavirus cases in the United States, and numbers are once again rising.
