Back in October, Common released the well-received body of work A Beautiful Revolution (Pt. 1), which saw nine cuts and additional appearances from Jessica Care Moore, Black Thought, Lenny Kravitz, Morgan Parker, and PJ — the last of whom appeared on four of the project’s tracks, including the standout single “What Do You Say (Move It Baby).” Today, the Greensboro-to-L.A. singer rejoined her Chicagoan counterpart on the track “Imagine,” a Karriem Riggins-produced drop that samples René Moore and Angela Winbush’s 80’s hit “Imaginary Playmates.” As with A Beautiful Revolution, “Imagine” is filled with lyrics about dreams of a better future:

“Imagine days divine, no longer in a race with time, every day we wake up is a day to shine, imagine you could turn water to your favorite wine, and when you taking down your girl, you can take your time, imagine loving you enough, you don’t need a like, kids father’s in they life just to lead them right, no longer worried about sickness because we are eating right…”

Common’s latest official studio LP, Let Love, made landfall back in 2019 with 11 songs and notable assists from Daniel Caesar, the late J Dilla, Swizz Beatz, Leikeli47, BJ The Chicago Kid, A-Trak, Jill Scott, Leon Bridges, and more. As previously reported by REVOLT, Common is also adding to his filmography — it’s been announced that he’ll be joining the Netflix dramedy “Never Have I Ever.” He’ll be playing in a recurring role as Dr. Chris Jackson during the show’s second season. Prior to that, he could be seen on last year’s “Home Movie: The Princess Bride” and Ava.

Press play on Common “Imagine” video below, which shows him walking the beach and showing love to locals. Hopefully, this means that a follow-up to A Beautiful Revolution lies somewhere on the horizon.
