Vince Staples is getting his own comic book.

Earlier today (June 24), Staples used his Twitter account to announce that he’s soon dropping his very own graphic novel. The novel is called “Limbo Beach,” and it’s being released through Z2 comics. It’s co-written by Bryan Edward Hill (“Batman & the Outsiders”; Titans”), Chris Robinson (“Children of the Atom”), and Buster Moody (“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”)  and it’s expected to be released this December.

Z2 comics says the comic follows the exploits of the latest member of the Wunderlosts, a group of teenagers with mysterious powers they got from a theme park that grants them special abilities. That theme park is called Limbo Beach. Z2 comics describes the graphic novel as being “equal parts ‘Lord of the Flies’ and ‘The Warriors.’”

Not too many details about the forthcoming graphic novel are known, but so far, it looks pretty dope. It’s not hard to imagine it becoming a hit with his fans—and possibly a bunch of other comic book enthusiasts from all over.

This news comes a week after Staples unloaded “Law of Averages,” an impressive display of technical rap skills that serves as a reminder of just how talented he is behind the mic. The song is the first single from his forthcoming self-titled album, which is all set to be released on July 9.

In a statement about the new LP, Staples said the project, which is produced by Kenny Beats, is a chance for him to provide more insight into who he is as a person.

“It really gives much more information about me that wasn’t out there before,” he said.
“That’s why I went with that title. I feel like I’ve been trying to tell the same story. As you go on in life, your point of view changes. This is another take on myself that I might not have had before.”

You can pre-order Limbo Beach here, and when you’re done with that, be sure to listen to “Law of Averages.”
