Waka Flocka has been tapped to deliver a virtual commencement speech for a Chicago high school graduation ceremony.

According to TMZ, the “Hard In Da Paint” emcee will speak to graduates from Innovations High School at Chicago’s Soldier Field on June 21. LaShaun Jackson, the charter school’s executive director, told the outlet that Waka is the right speaker for the class of 2021 because he came from the streets and overcame adversity to become successful.

Waka told TMZ that he is honored to be speaking to the students and plans to let them know how proud people are that they are graduating, despite having such a crazy year.

Back in April, REVOLT reported that Waka was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Trump administration for his humanitarianism and philanthropy as a volunteer for the Chicago-based non-profit Daughter of Destiny Outreach, which is an outreach program that helps provide employment, food, housing, community support and inner healing for women. His pastor and mentor Apostle Dr. Bridget Outlaw presented him the award along with a medal. The award recognized Waka’s “lifelong commitment to building a stronger nation through volunteer service.”

The “No Hands” rapper accepted the award and thanked the former president for the honor. “I wanna thank President Trump for recognizing me,” he said. He also thanked his pastor and “everybody that loves me enough” to support him in doing “everything that I wanted to do that was generous.”

Last year, Waka received an honorary doctorate degree in philanthropy and humanitarianism. During the ceremony, he was acknowledged for the charity work that he has done over the years, including dedicating his life to mental health advocacy and suicide prevention. “I’m officially dedicating my life to suicide prevention and mental illness!!!” Waka tweeted in May 2020. “Y’all not alone Waka Flocka Flame is with y’all now!!!!”
