Coi Leray joins EarthGang and Wale for “Options (Remix)”
The original track dropped back in December.
After Wale first teased this unreleased track during an Instagram Live session on Apr. 27 last year this year, fans have been asking for the song’s whereabouts ever since. Those inquiries were finally put to rest later in Dec. as EarthGang and Wale unleashed “Options.” The gang decided it was time to put a little extra something on the collab track as they tapped in one of the busiest voices in hip-hop lately, Coi Leray, for the official remix. On the song, Johnny Venus sets the tone by opening up with its catchy hook:
I got options, I got options. Got a million people watchin’/ Yeah, they clockin’, they clockin’. I got options, I got options, baby/ Got a million people watchin’ they clockin’ ‘cause I’m poppin’/
I don’t believe in you, I don’t trust the things you do/ It’s only for TV crews, heart emojis, I know you sendin’ to all your dudes/ You got out to parties at night, come back home and sleep alone
While on the topic of remixes, EarthGang just recently gave their fans a treat by dropping their “Lemon Pepper Freestyle (Remix).” Prior to that, their collective Spillage Village shared their Spilligion project back in September, which featured an array of guest artists including Chance the Rapper, Lucky Daye, Ari Lennox, and Masego. The album was preceded by singles like “Baptize,” “Hapi” and “End of Daze.”
Back in June, Wale surprised the world with an EP titled The Imperfect Storm. His last LP, Wow… That’s Crazy made its way to fans ears in 2019 and boasted 15 cuts with additional assists from Kelly Price, Ari Lennox, Boogie, 6LACK, Bryson Tiller, Lil Durk, Rick Ross and Meek Mill, and more. A top ten record on the Billboard 200, Wow… That’s Crazy marked a big success for the D.C. icon since 2017’s slept-on body of work Shine.
Coi Leray has been makig headlines all year, starting off in January when she shared her reflective single “No More Parties,” a track that sees her unloading her current most candid thoughts. Her vulnerability rewarded her by making the track one of her most well-received, and she circled back to deliver a revamped version with an assist from none other than Lil Durk. Then she unleashed “Big Purr” featuring Pooh Shiesty, and the song was viral from one clip way before the official song and video were even released.
