Just last week, EarthGang treated fans to a brand new cut, their take on Drake’s popular “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” beat. It seems the guys are gearing up for a new project release coming up, as they’re slowly but surely picking up steam once again with back-to-back drops. Today (May 26), the duo is back to share the official visual to “Aretha.” The video finds EarthGang in their element, flipping back and forth between scenes of them in the zone in their studio as Johnny Venus has the honor of grabbing the opening verse:

See, God said it was time, “My son, you got to rhyme, my son, you got to rise, they got to see you shine”/ Please don’t trouble the waters ‘cause that shit is my sign/ Cancers, I love them girls, Scorpios, I take my time, I know you love the vibes, refreshin’, don’t you lie/

Put that real shit on tongue, guarantee you gon’ get high/ No, I never sold no dope and commit no robberies/ But it’s funny how them coppers keep comin’ after me, I tried some LSD, I sipped a little lean, well/ And you know, we all smoked some weed

Most recently, Johnny Venus assisted Sinéad Harnett in her new “Take Me Away” video that dropped earlier this year, and they also dropped a highly anticipated single with Wale titled “Options” back in December. EarthGang’s collective Spillage Village shared their Spilligion project back in September, which featured an array of guest artists including Chance the Rapper, Lucky Daye, Ari Lennox, and Masego.

The album was preceded by singles like “Baptize,” “Hapi” and “End of Daze.” Earthgang’s last full length project Mirrorland made landfall back in September of 2019, a project that boasted fan favorites like “Proud Of U” with Young Thug, “Bank,” and “Tequila” featuring T-Pain.
