We’re not yet halfway into 2021, and Benny The Butcher is already back to blessing the masses with his second body of work for the year. This past weekend, the Buffalo emcee teamed up with fellow upstate New Yorker 38 Spesh for Trust The Sopranos, a 10-track body of work that also sees additional contributions Elcamino, Ampichino, Heem, Rick Hyde, Chase Fetti, and more. The project was led by “Immunity,” “Spineless” with Ransom, and the Che Noir and Klass Murda-assisted standout “Love Left.”

Just a couple of months prior, Benny linked with Harry Fraud for The Plugs I Met 2, the sequel to 2019’s The Plugs I Met that saw nine choice cuts and assists from Fat Joe, 2 Chainz, the late Chinx, Teyonahhh, French Montana, Jim Jones, and Hyde. In addition to his own releases (including an anthem in support of the Buffalo Bills), Benny could also be heard providing show-stealing verses for songs like Jonesy’s “Conversation Cost,” Baddnews’ “Good Vibes,” Klass Murda’s “Theme Song,” IceRocks’ “Red Presidents,” Sheek Louch’s “Spirit of Griselda,” Belly’s “Money on the Table,” Nym Lo’s “Time Watchers,” Loveboat Luciano’s “Made The List,” ItsBizkit’s “Straight Cap,” and — mere days ago — Bobby Sessions’ “Gold Rolex.”

Last year was just as prolific for the Black Soprano Family head honcho – beginning with him and his collective’s joint release with DJ Drama in July. Months later, he would partner with Hit-Boy for his sophomore studio LP Burden of Proof, a critically acclaimed body of work that saw contributions from Rick Ross, Freddie Gibbs, Big Sean, Lil Wayne, Dom Kennedy, Queen Naija, and — of course — Griselda cohorts Westside Gunn and Conway The Machine. Burden of Proof also stands as the most successful release out of Benny’s camp to date, peaking within the top 30 of the Billboard 200 thanks to 19,000 album equivalent units sold.
