On Thursday (May 6), Twitter suspended an account that appeared to be Donald Trump’s latest attempt to return to the social media platform.

The account, which is called @DJTDesk, appeared on Twitter on Thursday. The bio section stated that the page would feature “Posts copied from Save America on behalf of the 45th POTUS; Originally composed via DonaldJTrump/Desk.” Within hours, the page was suspended.

In a statement to multiple outlets, a Twitter spokesperson said, “As stated in our ban evasion policy, we’ll take enforcement action on accounts whose apparent intent is to replace or promote content affiliated with a suspended account.”

Jason Miller, a spokesperson for Trump, said the account has no affiliation with the former president.

The emergence of the new page came one day after Trump announced the launching of his new platform called “From the Desk of Donald J. Trump,” which will allow him to post images, comments and videos on his DonaldJTrump.com website. That content will be allowed to be shared on other social media sites.

Back in January, the former president was permanently suspended from Twitter and several other social media sites after he was accused of inciting violence with the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol. Twitter CFO Ned Segal said Trump will remain banned from the platform, even if he runs for office again.

On May 5, Facebook announced that Trump will continue to be banned from the site. The company’s oversight board announced said the social media platform was justified in its initial banning of the former president after the deadly riot, but said more evaluation is needed to decide how long the ban should continue.

“Given the seriousness of the violations and the ongoing risk of violence, Facebook was justified in suspending Mr. Trump’s accounts on Jan. 6 and extending that suspension on Jan. 7,” it said.
