Back in October, Joyner Lucas blessed his fans with Evolution, a 12-track project that saw additional assists from The Game, Iyla, Ashanti, Rick Ross, and Elijah James. Since then, the Worcester, Massachusetts emcee has remained somewhat dormant, appearing on occasional tracks like E-40’s “I Stand On That” — a collaboration that also features T.I. and has since spawned a music video back in March.

Today, Lucas makes a big return with his new single “Ramen & OJ,” a hard-hitting cut that features Lil Baby and sees the two stars that’s aware of the struggle and is determined to maintain their financial success at all costs:

“I got some needs, I need the money like I need to breathe, I needs some hunnids, and I need to scheme, I need the W by any means, yada-da, yada I mean, tell that lil’ bitch that I’m outta her league, enough is enough, and I think I’m allergic to suckers, you niggas keep makin’ me sneeze, did them off of blood and I’m makin’ them bleed…/”

In addition to Evolution, 2020 also saw Lucas liberate his official debut album ADHD, which contained 18 cuts with assists from Chris Brown (whatever happened to Angels & Demons?), foe-turned-friend Logic, Timbaland, Young Thug, Fabolous, and King OSF. The release was a moderate success as well, scoring a top ten debut on the Billboard 200 thanks to 39,000 album equivalent units sold during its first week of release. With “Ramen & OJ,” it’s hopeful that a sophomore follow-up lies somewhere on the horizon.

Last year was certainly a banner one for Lil Baby as well, beginning with My Turn, a body of work that topped the aforementioned chart comfortably with 197,000 first week album equivalent units sold. The Atlanta star later kept that momentum going with My Turn (Deluxe), which added on seven more cuts — including the smash hits “We Paid” and “The Bigger Picture.”
