When DMX passed away, social media was flooded with tributes from many, including members of his Ruff Ryders family. Co-founder Joaquin “Waah” Dean, Swizz Beatz, Drag-On, Sheek Louch, Styles P and Eve managed to pen some words through the heartbreak, but Jadakiss — who hadn’t shared his thoughts — chose to honor him in a different way. On Thursday (April 22), Kiss took to Instagram to let his followers know he’s hosting a food giveway in him and X’s hometown of Yonkers, New York.

In a video shared on his page, Kiss told fans to pull up to the Palisades Towers, where he is giving out boxes of fresh produce to the neighborhood’s residents until they run out.

The caption to his post clarified the generous act was a “food giveaway in honor of DMX.”

Kiss’ giveaway comes days before X’s memorial services, where his close family and friends will gather to celebrate his life and legacy.

On Saturday (April 24), a Celebration of Life memorial service will take place at 4 p.m. at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The following day (April 25), his homegoing celebration will be held. Both events will be closed to the public due to COVID-19 restrictions, but fans will be able to tune in virtually. The memorial service will be live streamed on DMX’s YouTube channel, and the homegoing ceremony is scheduled to air on BET.

DMX passed away on April 9 after suffering from a drug overdose and a heart attack. The Yonkers native fought for his life at the White Plains Hospital in Westchester, New York as fans and loved ones prayed for him to pull through. Unfortunately, after a week-long fight, he was taken off life support and died on April 9.

Fond memories of the beloved rapper have since circulated the internet and will most likely be shared during his services this weekend.
