Antron Pippen, Scottie Pippen’s firstborn son, tragically passed away on Sunday (April 18) at the age of 33.

The NBA legend took to social media on Monday (April 19) to reveal the news, alongside throwback photos of his son. “I’m heartbroken to share that yesterday, I said goodbye to my firstborn son Antron,” he tweeted. “The two of us shared a love for basketball and we had countless conversations about the game.”

Pippen continued, “Antron suffered from chronic asthma and if he hadn’t had it, I truly believe he would’ve made it to the NBA. He never let that get him down, though — Antron stayed positive and worked hard, and I am so proud of the man that he became.”

“Please keep his mom, Karen, and all of his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers,” he wrote. “A kind heart and beautiful soul gone way too soon. I love you, son, rest easy until we meet again.”

According to Marie Claire, Antron was born on December 29, 1987 and was the only child Pippen shared with his ex-wife Karen McCollum. The two were married from 1988 to 1990. The 33-year-old had dreams of following in his father’s footsteps and making it to the NBA one day. He ended up playing basketball at Texas A&M International University. He later signed with the Upstate Heat team of the World Basketball Association.

Most recently, Antron played with a team in Atlanta and worked as a machine technician in a local lab. His cause of death has not yet been revealed to the public.

Pippen has seven other children, one of whom passed away in the hospital just nine days after she was born in 1994. The REVOLT team would like to send our thoughts and prayers to the Pippen family as they deal with their loss. Check out his tweets below.
