A suspect is now in custody, police say, after a shooting took the lives of three people and seriously injured three others in Kenosha County, Wisconsin early Sunday morning (April 18). According to the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, the suspected gunman has been located and will be charged with one count of first-degree intentional homicide.

As reported by REVOLT, shots rang out just after midnight at the Somers House Tavern in Somers, Wisconsin. Police arrived at the bar around 12:40 a.m. local time and pronounced three victims dead at the scene. Another three victims were transported to a local hospital and are currently being treated for gunshot wounds.

During a press conference yesterday, Kenosha County Sheriff David G. Beth said the deadly shooting was likely a targeted and isolated incident.

“We don’t believe this was a random act,” he said. “I don’t believe that the people in this area are in harm’s way because of the suspect still not being captured.”

Police believe the shooting occurred after a customer was removed from the bar and “possibly came back a short time later.” Though one suspect is now in custody, police say it’s possible more than one gunman was involved in the shooting. However, police said Sunday night there’s no longer a threat of danger in the area.

The tragedy occurred on the same day as a deadly shooting in Austin, Texas; which took the lives of three people. Police have not located the suspected gunman, though they have identified him as 41-year-old Stephen Nicholas Broderick, a former Travis County Sheriff’s Office detective.

On Sunday afternoon, the Travis County Sherriff’s Department revealed the alleged shooter is also currently facing child sexual assault charges. As reported by REVOLT, he was booked into a county jail in June and resigned from the sheriff’s department after his arrest.
