Yelawolf isn’t playing around this year. He’s already dropped off two projects this year alone — February’s Yelawolf Blacksheep with Caskey and last week’s TURQUOiSE TORNADO with Riff Raff. Today, he adds to that with Slumafia, an eight-track offering alongside Memphis legend DJ Paul. The project follows Yelawolf and Paul’s 2013 EP Black Fall and sees additional contributions from Gangsta Boo, Seed of 6ix, Big Henri, Badd Wolf, and more.

Slumafia wastes no time getting to the action, as can be heard on the opening cut “Trans Am,” which sees additional production from TwhyXclusive:

“Yo, white powder gave a bunch of runny noses on the front row with the shoulder with the crap wheels, trying to cut it like a sawmill eyes, baby blue like the not Carolina tar heels, she put a leg out like the letter R, still hands on the side with the broad hips, we’re all hot, but, imma have to leave her outside cause I got a full house like a car deal/”

Despite the new music, Yelawolf isn’t finished with April by any means — the DJ Muggs-backed collaborative effort Mile Zero, and MUDMOUTH, the official follow-up to 2019’s Ghetto Cowboy, will be making landfall on the 23rd and 30th, respectively.

Years after his official debut LP CreekWater, Yelawolf teamed up with Eminem’s Shady Records to release 2011’s Radioactive, a 15 track project that saw a wealth of assists from Mystikal, Kid Rock, Lil Jon, Rittz, Fefe Dobson, and Killer Mike, among others. Following joint bodies of work like The Slumdon Bridge with Ed Sheeran, Psycho White with Travis Barker, and the aforementioned Black Fall came Yela’s best album to date — 2015’s Love Story, which peaked at number three on the Billboard 200 thanks to 58,000 first-week album equivalent units sold.
