DMX’s family has released a statement shutting down a few rumors that have surfaced since his untimely passing.

On Monday (April 12), music journalist Sowmya Krishnamurthy shared the release on Twitter. “There have been a few rumors following our loved one, Earl Simmons,’ passing that we’d like to clear up,” read the statement. “No one has bought Earl’s masters. Additionally, we are not selling any merch or raising money for Earl’s funeral. If anyone is requesting for money for his funeral, please be aware the person is a scammer. We will keep the public posted on funeral/memorial service arrangements. — Earl ‘DMX’ Simmons’ Family.”

REVOLT previously reported that Swizz Beatz denied rumors that JAY-Z and Beyoncé purchased X’s masters. Following the It’s Dark And Hell Is Hot emcee’s death, an article began to circulate about The Carters’ alleged purchase. The title of the article read, “JAY-Z & Beyoncé are buying back DMX’s masters for $10 million & will give to his 17 kids for free.” The piece spread across multiple social media platforms, although there was no real source to confirm the claims.

Swizz simply shut the rumors down by writing, “Not true king,” under someone’s Instagram post of the fake article.

Last Friday (April 9), the Ruff Ryders rapper sadly passed away after suffering a heart attack. His family revealed the news in a statement and said he “fought till the very end.”

Tributes began to pour in from all over the world as people took to social media to remember one of the greatest rappers ever. Over the weekend, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano spoke to TMZ about a possible memorial, which could come in the form of a street name, statue or mural. He also recommended hosting the X’s memorial service at the Yonkers Raceway.
