Heartfelt tributes to DMX continue to pour in as his loved ones process the news of his untimely demise. On Sunday (April 11), days after the rapper’s family asked for respect and privacy amid their grieving process, his daughter Sasha broke her silence to commemorate her father with some touching words.
“Nothing will ever explain how I feel, how this all feels,” she wrote on Twitter. “My twin, I love you. There’s always been so many misconceptions about who the fuck you were, but that didn’t matter because I knew who the fuck you were. Eternally grateful to have had you. I love you forever dad.”
Sasha — X’s daughter with former partner Patricia Trejo — is the first of his children to honor the rap legend on social media. Her tribute comes a day after his ex-wife, Tashera Simmons, celebrated his life alongside her 50th birthday.
In a touching message, Simmons expressed her gratitude for the twelve years she spent married to X, the father of her four children and “a true disciple and angel of God.”
“I couldn’t bring myself to just celebrate and close the last 50 yrs of my life with out celebrating the life of one of the most important person in the world to me, my Ex-husband,” she wrote.
“…I am so grateful to God and honored from the bottom of my heart for the opportunity while on this journey called life to join hands in marriage with a true disciple and Angel of God to do life with when we did. Everything we went through was necessary. It made me the woman I am today.”
X passed away on Friday (April 9) following a heart attack that resulted in a week-long hospitalization at the White Plains Hospital. Details of his memorial are being finalized, but Mike Spano, the mayor of X’s hometown of Yonkers, has offered to host the service at Yonkers Raceway.
