Black Rob is in the hospital, according to an Instagram post by Power 105.1’s DJ Self. Within the video clip, the “Whoa” rapper says from his hospital bed, “I don’t know, the pain is crazy, man. It’s helping me out though, it’s making me realize I got a lot to go.”

Apparently Rob also must’ve received the news that DMX passed away. “I feel everything about X,” Rob says in the brief visual. “X was positive. Love to X.”

Details regarding Rob’s condition have not been revealed, but the 52-year-old entertainer is visibly ill within the video. DJ Self captioned the post on IG: “Let’s keep our prayers up Black Rob !!! Get well man Please people out there take care of yourself. BR was one of the greats Had NY on his back like Whaooo.”

The video of Rob stretched out on a hospital bed was also shared by entertainment manager Kal Dawson on Instagram. Within Dawson’s IG stories, Rob’s hit “Whoa” plays over him speaking. When Dawson asks him about his recovery process, Rob explains, “It’s been up and down.” “I’m just trying to bear with this and do this, man. It’s been, killer,” he says. “After I had my stroke, I had to re-memorize all my s**t, all my lyrics. I didn’t know them, so that right there was the biggest challenge. Years. That took years, man. I been fucking with this shit, struggling with this, with my baby moms, for years.”

The East Harlem-bred emcee is referring to the mild stroke he suffered circa 2015. He revealed details about it during an interview on Sirius XM’s Sway in the Morning. “It ain’t no drugs, I’ll tell you that,” he said at the time. “I had high blood pressure and being that I had that, that takes a lot out of a brotha.”

“I had a stroke, but I got over that,” he continued. “I can show you how to get over that.”

In addition to encouraging other rappers to take their health seriously, Rob revealed he was taking 10 pills a day to keep his blood pressure under control. He started exercising, changed his diet and stopped drinking. “I had to stop everything. I’d come out, I’d drink. I just got tired of it,” he said.
