It appears Silk Sonic will be performing at the Grammys after all. The updated setlist arrives after Anderson. Paak and Bruno Mars, the band’s frontmen, petitioned the Recording Academy to let them perform.

“If you can see it in your hearts to allow two out of work musicians to perform at your show, we would really appreciate it. We just released a song and could really use the promotion right now,” Mars tweeted to the Academy on Sunday (March 7) as .Paak got the #LetSilkSonicThrive hashtag circulating.

“We have a lot riding on this record,” Mars continued. “We haven’t been able to perform for a while, and we just want to sing. We’ll send in an audition tape and take as many COVID tests as we need to. I promise we won’t be extra. We just really want a gig again. I hope you’ll consider this request and give us the opportunity to shine.”

After the plea, the Recording Academy responded on Twitter.

“[Bruno Mars] & [Anderson .Paak], we have been trying to call you all week. Have you changed your numbers?” the Grammys account tweeted Tuesday (March 9). “We would love for #silksonic to make their TV debut at the #GRAMMYs. Are you free this Sunday night? Follow back and we will DM for details.”

Mars and .Paak celebrated the response and accepted the offer.

“We humbly accept your invitation to reunite on your grand stage,” Mars tweeted. “Thank you! We swear we won’t do the most.”

The two Grammy-awarded artists will have a few days to prepare for their set, as the 63rd annual awards show is set to take place this Sunday (March 14) at 8 p.m. EST. Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, Lil Baby, Post Malone, Roddy Ricch and more are also slated to perform.

Mars and .Paak introduced Silk Sonic to fans earlier this month with their debut single, “Leave the Door Open.” In an Instagram post, they revealed they’ve also completed their debut album.
