Drake is returning with new music. The 6 God took to Instagram early on Thursday morning (March 4) to announce his next release, Scary Hours. Drake shared the project’s cover art in the post and wrote, “FRIDAY MIDNIGHT.”

On Twitter, his label OVO Sound also confirmed that the new music would arrive tonight at midnight EST.

While Drake didn’t specify whether the release would be a stand-alone single or a collection of songs, it’s safe to assume Scary Hours will include at least two tracks. In 2018, Drake released his Scary Hours extended play, which included his smash-hit “God’s Plan” and “Diplomatic Immunity.”

Notably, 2018’s Scary Hours also arrived a mere five months before Drake’s fifth studio album, Scorpion. Drizzy ended up including the No. 1-debuting “God’s Plan” on his album.

The new music announcement follows closely behind hints toward Certified Lover Boy’s impending release, courtesy of DJ Akademiks. At the end of last month, Akademiks claimed on Twitch that Drake’s sixth studio LP would arrive by April at the latest.

“Drake told me that it’s gonna be dropping before April,” he said. “So, he’s not waiting until summer to drop his shit… April or before.”

Certified Lover Boy was initially slated to arrive last summer. After postponing the record amidst the pandemic and delaying it a second time due to his knee injury, Akademiks says Drake now wants to give the album the rollout it deserves.

“He spent so much time on this project,” he continued. “He’s not trying to put out a surprise project. He’s gonna let people know at least a week before.”

On Monday (March 1), Akademiks also addressed a leaked Drake snippet and claimed the rapper would be dropping new music this week.

“Drake told me to sit tight n relax… he said that ‘What’s Next’ record is just a ‘warm up ting,’” Akademiks said. “He’s working overtime creating this next masterpiece… CLB on da way… fr. He also told me he shooting some videos.. prolly drop something this week. The Goat is back. Aubrey Champagne Papi Drake Graham. That’s y’all Drake update… the source is – The Boy.”

Later in the day, Drake was spotted filming a music video in Toronto. See his Scary Hours announcement below.
