New York’s very own Jimi Tents has dropped off his first solo release of the year, his brand new track “Bet That.” The drop comes paired with an accompanying music video is the first taste of his upcoming Hella Late Nights project. The ZelTheGoat-directed visual sees Tents in his element as he rides the Mike Hector and Plu2o Nash co-produced beat:
Yeah.. Bet that, Throwing dirt on ya partners, we don’t respect that/ Tryna say you a man, but you don’t reflect that/ From young n***as, to bosses, we tryna get that/ We get our hands on some dollars, we gon invest back/ It ain’t about how you fell off, it’s how you get back/ Seen n***as name, come up so dirty, can’t get ya rep back/ Tryna escape from out the mud, where n***as stressed at. Forreal..
Most recently, Jimi Tents can be heard tapping into his R&B side as he assisted VanJess on their “Curious” single alongside Garren, and the song was featured on their recent Homegrown EP. In 2020, he released his “On Me” track and also was featured on songs like Ricky Felix’s “Weird” and TGUT’s “Lookin Out.” His last project was 2017’s I Can’t Go Home, which is equipped with 13 tracks and features from names like Saba, Ro James, and Saidbysed.
In a previous interview, Jimi Tents delved into his favorite part about being an indie artist:
A mixture of the satisfaction of having that direct to consumer relationship with a lot of my fans, they can DM me at any time. We can have full-blown conversations. People tell me they want me in certain cities. They really support and wanna see me win. You get to build a one-on-one relationship with these people that wanna see you win, that you probably wouldn’t know from a hole in the wall. And you get to hear all these stories about how your music helped them.
