Philadelphia’s performing arts venue The Mann dedicated every Friday this month to Black artists in honor of Black History Month. Titled “Voices of Hope,” the event has already delivered top quality entertainment from Benu Ausar Philly, a West African band led by Saantis Davis; Dr. J. Donald Thompson, who delivered a gospel assemblage alongside Rev. Carla Jones Brown and the Arch Street Presbyterian Church Choir; and jazz pianist Eric Wortham II.

On the final Friday of February, viewers are now able to enjoy a hip hop medley from West Philly’s own Chill Moody. From the historical Belmont Mansion, the multifaceted artist performs dope renditions of “Live From Cafe Breezes,” “Smile More,” “The Fight Is On” with singer Balmour, and the incredible spoken word piece “More Than A Month.”

In lieu of his contribution to “Voices Of Hope,” Moody further explained his inclusion to REVOLT:

“My ‘Voices of Hope’ performance is a collection of songs speaking directly to the various emotions/thoughts that I have on the daily in regards to being Black in America. It was important for me to make a statement with this jawn, so I filmed the full performance at the Belmont Mansion in Philly, which was PA’s first stop on the underground railroad. Sacred grounds. We packaged the performance with an EP featuring all of the songs performed, finished off with what I feel is some of my strongest work: ‘More Than A Month,’ a spoken word piece about the need for more than just 28 days to celebrate Black history produced by Eugene ‘Man Man’ Roberts.”

Wrap up Black History Month 2021 with a bang and press play on the REVOLT premiere of Chill Moody’s impactful “Voices of Hope” visual — as well as its accompanying EP of the same name — below. You can also enjoy the aforementioned artists from the series via The Mann’s official website. Enjoy!
