Alabama rapper Nashon “HoneyKomb Brazy” Jones took to Instagram to clarify what really happened to his grandparents, who were tragically killed on Wednesday night (Feb. 17).

According to WRKG, authorities were called to the home of Lelia and Tony Lewis after receiving reports about gunshots and a house fire. Their family told investigators that the couple was fatally shot and the home was set ablaze. However, HoneyKomb Brazy says that was not the case.

“Stop saying my granny n grandpa got set on fire,” he wrote in an Instagram post on Friday (Feb. 19). “They had COVID-19. Both of them was on oxygen tanks. They blew up when they was shooting in the house.”

The “Under Pressure” emcee said that he begged his grandparents to move out of their home so they wouldn’t be “caught up” in the drama he had with other people. Unfortunately, the Lewis’ did not want to relocate and told their grandson “if it’s our time, it’s our time. God got us.”

Earlier Friday, Honeykomb posted that he hadn’t eaten or slept since hearing about their deaths. “I hear people saying they will do this or that, but at the end of the day, y’all ain’t in my situation,” he wrote. “N ik it’s fucked up how they did my ppl, but I’ll never do nun to no old ppl or kids to get back. It just ain’t in me. My granny n grandpa ain’t raise me like that. They wouldn’t even want me to do dat. It just ain’t no real n*gga shit. Everything I do for y’all granny n grandpa from here on out. Love y’all forever.”

James Barber, Public Safety Director in Mobile, said the deaths are currently being investigated as homicides.

“You’re talking about a couple that had been together over 50 years,” said family member Letecha Lang. “Everybody knew them and loved them. To know them was to love them. They didn’t deserve this. Who does something like this? When do they stop? When is enough is enough.”
