Kito, VanJess, and Channel Tres team up for “Recap” video
“Recap” is Kito’s first release since “Follow.”
Today, Kito, VanJess and Channel Tres unveiled the official video for their new single, “Recap.” Directed by Sean Hollihan and produced by Matt Morello, the clip plays off the song’s theme of stepping back in time, taking its timing from the infectious beats. On the track, VanJess takes care of the opening vocals:
I just want you to fit my life, but the pieces are complicated/ We been doing it wrong. We just need some compromising/ Do you see, darling? Are you listening? I’m still trying/ Maybe I could make you change your ways. Say we kick back, we relapse. Moving too fast, let’s recap/ Not focused on facts it’s a cap. Moving too, fast let’s recap/ Say we kick back. We relapse, moving too fast, let’s recap/ Not focused on facts it’s a cap. Moving too, fast let’s recap/
“Recap” is Kito’s first release since “Follow,” her collaboration with ZHU and Jeremih. Released in August 2020, the song has since amassed more than 10 million combined global streams. Now based in Los Angeles, Kito made her Astralwerks debut with the single “Wild Girl” alongside Empress Of, which became a top 10 hit at U.S. Dance radio. “Alone With You,” her collaboration with electronic music duo AlunaGeorge, followed in early 2020.
VanJess latest Homegrown EP arrived filled with nine smooth R&B cuts and a great list of assist from names like Phony Ppl, Jimitents, Garren, and Devin Morrison. Their last full-length project was Silk Canvas in 2018, and the following year they would go on to release a project titled Silk Canvas (The Remixes). The latter body of work is filled with reimagined versions of their Silk Canvas hits, and the roster of features boasts names like Ari Lennox, Saba, Bas, and Xavier Omar. The original project included assists from Masego, Goldlink, Little Simz, Berhana, and Leikeli47.
