Trey Songz is grieving the loss of his uncle who recently passed away. On Tuesday (Feb. 16), the Ready singer revealed the news of uncle’s sudden death alongside a heartfelt tribute which included various photos of them together.

“God called my uncle home last week. No warning signs, just suddenly was his time,” he wrote. “Been struggling with how to deal with the emotions. Wish I coulda talked to him one more time, but that’s not how life works.”

Aside from revealing his son to the world and releasing some new music, the Virginia native, much like everyone else, had to face some low moments during the pandemic. His grandfather, for example, passed away last year from what he believes may have been COVID-19.

“Today I miss my grandfather more than most days, but I know he’s looking down proud of me, and that makes me happy,” the “Brain” singer tweeted on Father’s Day.

Months later, in October, Songz experienced his own bout with COVID-19 — the same virus that killed Fred the Godson and resulted in Jeremih’s near-death experience. Then, earlier this year, he found himself being attacked by police during a Kansas City Chiefs game.

“Tell ya people you love em cause you never know when your last time seeing them will be,” he continued in the tribute to his late uncle. “Unc give grandpa a kiss for me, and hold me a spot next to y’all.”

Songz is one of many celebrities who were forced to deal with sudden deaths amid the pandemic. Over the weekend, Nicki Minaj’s father Robert Maraj was killed at the age of 64 following a hit-and-run accident in Long Island, New York. The incident remains under investigation, and the “Monster” rapper has yet to break her silence regarding the matter.

REVOLT sends our condolences to Trey Songz and his family during this difficult time.
