Quality Control’s Pierre “Pee” Thomas offered to help a young woman who was arrested for leaving her kids unattended in a hotel room while she went to work.

The mom, whose name is Shaina Bell, was arrested on Thursday (Feb. 11) after someone called Trumbull County 911 reporting that two children, ages 10 and two, were alone in an Ohio Motel Six after 6 p.m. The older child told authorities that her mother was at work and expected to be back around 10 p.m.

Bell was booked into the county jail on two counts of child endangering. The children were turned over to their father. She told authorities that she usually has someone check on her kids every hour while she is at work.

After getting wind of her story, Pee offered to help Bell and her family. “Someone get me this young lady info,” he wrote in an Instagram comment. “My mom used to have to do the same thing when we were young, not cause of abandonment issues, it’s because people can’t afford child care working at a pizza shop. She wasn’t hanging out at a club. She was at work.”

On Friday (Feb. 12), Bell was released from jail. She is scheduled for her next court hearing in April.

A GoFundMe was set up for Bell and her family. So far, over $31,000 has been raised and will go towards the family securing permanent and safe housing. “We understand that everyone has a story and we are grateful that you are listening to ours. From the bottom of our hearts, we not only appreciate the financial contributions, but also the outpouring of support in the form of kind words and understanding,” read the GoFundMe.
