Tessica Brown, formerly known as “Gorilla Glue Girl,” is looking to help others in need of reconstructive surgery after her own hair ordeal. Brown raised over $23,000 on GoFundMe while seeking treatment for her scalp and now reportedly intends to donate a majority of the funds.

According to TMZ, Brown will be donating $20,000 to Dr. Michael Obeng’s nonprofit organization Restore Foundation. As reported by REVOLT, the Beverly Hills plastic surgeon was able to finally free Brown’s hair from the Gorilla Glue and performed the $12,500 procedure for free.

According to the Restore website, the foundation provides free reconstructive surgery and medical services to battered and abused children and people around the world. The site notes that founder Dr. Obeng has traveled to Ghana, his home country, on four occasions with the organization to perform breast reconstructive surgery for breast cancer patients.

According to TMZ, Brown was interested in contributing to Restore because she wants to help others who need reconstructive surgery but don’t have the resources. On her Instagram account, she added that the remaining money will be donated to three families in her local Louisiana area.

Brown previously thanked Dr. Obeng for his successful surgery on Instagram, writing, “Words cannot even explain how I feel about [Dr. Obeng]. You really gave me my life back and I am forever grateful.”

The surgeon replied, “You’re amazing. I’m glad I could be of service!”

As reported by REVOLT, Brown underwent the successful procedure last Thursday (Feb. 11). Dr. Obeng was able to remove the Gorilla Glue from Brown’s hair, where it had been stuck for over a month, after creating a solvent that broke down the adhesive’s polyurethane base. Dr. Obeng was able to save all of Brown’s hair, though her sister cut it shorter in the days leading up to her procedure.

“She’s very, very lucky that she did not sustain a lot of injuries to her scalp,” the surgeon told TMZ. “This type of ordeal is no joke… She’s been through a lot and I hope you guys will learn from Tessica’s ordeal. Make sure before you use anything, you read it.”
