It’s been about four years since Sevyn Streeter blessed the world with her debut album Girl Disrupted, which saw 13 tracks and additional features from The-Dream, Ty Dolla $ign, Jeremih, Wiz Khalifa, DeJ Loaf, August Alsina, Dave East, and Cam Wallace. Since then, the Floridian star has released some loose singles, including “Yernin,” “Whatchusay,” “HMU,” and “Kissez” — all of which were expected to appear on the long-awaited sophomore follow-up Drunken Wordz x Sober Thoughtz.

Fast forward to 2021, and it looks like Sevyn is restarting the momentum with a dope new single titled “Guilty”, which features assistance from Chris Brown and A$AP Ferg and is immediately reminiscent of the classic Total and Notorious B.I.G. track “Can’t You See” (a song that borrows from the iconic James Brown cut “The Payback”). Produced by Chizzy, the infectious single sees the collaborators seemingly focused on having affairs outside of their respective relationships:

“We ain’t lookin’ to hurt ‘em, so good, that we’re doin’ ‘em dirty, I won’t say, “No,” I can’t say, “No,” his calls, I’ve been ignorin’, we up all night until the mornin’, I can’t say, “No”/

Last December, Sevyn became one of the many celebrities to test positive for COVID-19 — a virus that’s afflicted many around the world in the past year. She took to social media to reveal the diagnosis, while also promising that she wouldn’t allow Drunken Wordz x Sober Thoughtz to run into delays as a result:

“Just got the word I’ve tested positive for COVID. … And trust me I’m doing everything I can 2 deliver my new project “DRUNKEN WORDZ SOBER THOUGHTZ” to y’all top of 2021 but I have 2 make sure I’m being safe first.”

Press play on Sevyn, Brown, and Ferg’s “Guilty” below. Presumably, we’ll be hearing more in regards to her forthcoming project soon.
