DMX recruited some heavy hitters for his upcoming album.

The “Slippin’” emcee was recently a guest on “Drink Champs,” where he gave fans an idea about what’s to come on his impending project.

“I got the Griselda boys, Pop Smoke,” he teased. “That’s what type of new I’m doing.”

X admitted he never had the chance to meet the late rapper but noted he and Pop had a few similarities. “The growling was just a coincidence,” he said, to which N.O.R.E. joked, “Pop Smoke is you and 50 Cent’s baby. If you and 50 Cent had a baby, that would be Pop Smoke.”

X responded, “That would be awkward. But he would have the baby! … It would be ours, but he would have it! I get it.”

Fans have been patiently waiting for the “Party Up” star to drop a new project since his 2019 release from prison. In March, he announced an album was on the way, but the anticipation grew shortly after his meme-inspiring Verzuz against West Coast star Snoop Dogg.

Since then, DMX appeared as a guest feature on Casanova’s single ‘Don’t Play Games” and posted a few shots of him in the studio alongside friend and longtime collaborator Swizz Beatz. In one of his Instagram posts, he shared a video of him turning up to his 1998 hit “Top Shooter.” “Here comes the boom…album on the way,” he captioned the clip.

The rapper released his last project Redemption of a Beast in 2015, giving the rapper roughly six years of experience to pull from. Between his time in prison, his stint in rehab, his multiple personalities and his faith in God, X’s album was already expected to be a great one. The features from some of the hottest names in hip hop will most likely bring his album to another level.
