As the pandemic rages on, celebrities and people, in general, realize that all healthcare workers are the most imperative soldiers in the fight against the coronavirus. In an effort to help out those in need, Megan Thee Stallion made one lucky nurse’s day when she gave her $50,000.

On Thursday (Feb. 4), Megan made an unexpected appearance on “The Ellen Degeneres Show.” During her segment, Ellen informs the audience about a letter she received from a nurse from Houston named Jamelmenique Hoy. Towards the end of the segment, Ellen and Megan surprised Hoy with $50,000 to help her pay off her student loans.

“You have such a beautiful family,” Megan told Hoy. “I thought I wanted to be a nurse at one point in time, but that is really hard, and I just feel we need to give you all the praise.”

In the midst of treating COVID-19 patients, Hoy and her husband are currently raising five kids while she studies for her Master’s degree. Megan, who’s an avid supporter of higher education, revealed that she considered becoming a nurse before pursuing her rap career.

“My grandmother was a teacher and she always told me, ‘Girl, you better get that degree,’ so that’s number 1,” Megan told Ellen. “When I first went off to college I thought I wanted to be a nurse, and I started going to the classes and everything, and I was like, ‘Wow, this is not for me, I want to drop out of school, school is so hard.’”

Meg is always willing to help out those in need, especially if they’re from her hometown. Last April, the “WAP” rapper teamed up with Amazon Music to donate supplies, money, and Amazon Fire tablets to the residents and staff at the Park Manor Skilled Nursing Home in Houston.
