Earlier this week, Young Thug fans everywhere got hyped when Thugger released the official cover art and release date for his next drop. He didn’t offer much else in terms of specifics, but it’s now revealed that it’s his brand new single “GFU,” which you can listen to below.

Before there were any further details about what the drop would be, many fans were convinced the release would be Slime Language 2, and they honestly had pretty good reasons to think so. Gunna first teased a taste of Super Slimey 2 last May, saying “I think we either gonna put out Slime Language 2 or it’s gonna be the Super Slimey Surfer Edition.” In August, Thug announced a release date and then later on deleted the tweet. In October, he held a release party for a project and didn’t confirm any release date. However, all the hope was put to rest the following day with Young Thug posting on Instagram clarifying a single would be releasing on the 29th.

Most recently, Thug joined Zara Larsson for her new track and music video “Talk About Love.” Last year saw Young Thug connecting with Chris Brown for the well-received Slime & B mixtape back in May, which saw 13 tracks and additional appearances from Major Nine, Shad da God, Future, Lil Durk, Too $hort, E-40, and more. He also dished out some nice assists, including “Stay Down” with Lil Durk and 6lack, “Franchise” with Travis Scott and M.I.A., “Take It To Trial” with Gunna and Yak Gotti, and more.

His last full-length solo project So Much Fun came out in 2019 followed by a deluxe version. The successful project featured frequent collaborators like Lil Baby, Future, Quavo, and Travis Scott. The project went on to receive a platinum certification from the RIAA.
