As Americans welcome Joe Biden as the nation’s 46th president, a few Trump supporters are honoring the former president in an unusual way. As TMZ reported, advocates of Donald Trump showed up to capital state buildings across the city in singles.

Mark Leggiero, for example, went to a demonstration at the New York State Capitol and ended being the only advocate there. Though he didn’t intend to be alone, he turned out to be one of a few supporters who individually honored the former president on Inauguration Day. Lone Trump fans were also spotted at the capital buildings in Maine, Utah and Arizona.

After pro-Trump rioters breached the U.S. Capitol to contest the certification of Biden’s presidential win, law enforcement and government officials took extreme measures to ensure the safety and protection of DC residents. The FBI conducted investigations to identify individuals involved in the first attack and hinder any further government threats.

Amid their search, the government agency learned that rioters were allegedly “planning to ‘storm’ government offices, including in the District of Columbia and in every state regardless of whether the states certified electoral votes for Biden or Trump.”

National Guard troops were stationed to secure the nation’s capital, but were subjected to enhanced background screenings to prevent any insider threats or attacks. Preliminary results uncovered possible ties between some guardsmen and right-wing extremist groups, and open investigations were launched to determine the truth.

Two soldiers were later confirmed to have ties to right-wing militias. Though there was no exact plot against the president, they were pulled from their inauguration duties.

After days of beefing up security in preparation of the inauguraton, the ceremony took place with no threats to security. Biden is now officially POTUS, and Kamala Harris is the nation’s first Black, first South Asian-American and first female vice president.
