One long week after Trump supporters stormed the United States Capitol, arrests are continuing to be made. On Wednesday (Jan. 13), the latest one took place. According to multiple outlets, the pro-Trump rioter who was seen wearing a “Camp Auschwitz” sweatshirt during the government building’s attack was taken into custody in Newport News, Virginia.

The rioter’s name is Robert Keith Packer and he was arrested by “federal authorities in the Eastern District of Virginia on a warrant out of Washington, D.C.” CBS News reports, “The arrest warrant says he’s facing federal charges of unlawfully entering a restricted area and violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.”

Packer’s sweatshirt garnered much negative reactions both on and off social media considering the fact that it references the infamous Nazi concentration camp. This symbol also wasn’t the only anti-Semitic or racist one seen during the riots either.

Tuesday (Jan. 12) night, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez broke her silence about her experience hiding in the Capitol as the violent mob broke in, in attempt to harm members of the Congress. “Many members of Congress were almost murdered. Many Congressional staffers were almost killed. Many children of members of Congress were there,” she said on IG Live.

“Wednesday was an extremely traumatizing event and it is not an exaggeration to say that many, many members of the House were nearly assassinated,” she added. “Many of us nearly, and narrowly, escaped death.”

Sarah Groh, Rep. Ayanna Pressley’s chief of staff, also admitted that all of the panic buttons in the Congresswoman’s office were ripped out. “Every panic button in my office had been torn out — the whole unit,” she said.

“I was deeply concerned,” Groh continued. “It felt like the heat was being turned up in terms of the rhetoric and Trump’s aims to incite violence.”
