I regular on the DJing scene, it’s not common to see Virgil Abloh releasing songs of his own. This year, the fashion maven looks to change that with his new single “Delicate Limbs,” which sees additional production from kwes. and Julien Jabre and features vocals from Baltimore artist serpentwithfeet, whose infectious lyrics are a beautiful addition to the genre-bending cut:

“Teach me how to take, a hint and your hook, let me be your prey, let me get hooked, the only waves I’ve covered, are the ones you brush into your hair/

The sea likes charm when you’re not there, boy, the sea likes charm when you’re not there, so please don’t let, don’t let my delicate limbs delude you…/”

The accompanying visual comes courtesy of Kordae Jatafa Henry, and starts with serpentwithfeet and his presumed love interest Jamal DeAndre relaxing in a mostly open field under a tree. At some point, a barefoot serpent happens upon a humanoid plant of some sort, eventually making a connection with the natural wonder.

Last year, Virgil Abloh did provide some spoken word for Lupe Fiasco’s “SHOES” and “HOMME MADE,” both of which landed on the Chicago emcee’s HOUSE EP with Kaelin Ellis. 2020 also saw Abloh’s collaborator serpentwithfeet liberating an EP of his own titled Apparition, which contains three tracks for fans to enjoy.

In related news, it was recently announced that Virgil Abloh and Nike are releasing a book titled ICONS, which takes a magnifying glass to various sneaker designs of past and present — something that Abloh further explained via press release:

“The ICONS book is, in a way, the only revealing lens to understand that the catalog of the 50-plus Nike shoes I have designed are in my mind ‘one shoe.’ One story.”
