Today, Playboi Carti made his big return with his second studio LP Whole Lotta Red, which sees a healthy 24 tracks and additional assists from Future, Kanye West, and Kid Cudi. In addition to the new release, the Atlanta star also liberated a new music video for the Cudi-assisted cut “M3tamorphosis,” which sees production from F1lthy and Gab3 and centers around their evolution into the stars that they’ve become:

“Uh, as the king and the queens gather the cheese, no fees, you count the bodiesJeez, runnin’ the streets, told all my opps, ‘all my life, it’s been troublesome things,” we can go faster, chapters, won’t hold back/

N***as see where we at, all of my shooters, my goonies a team, some shit always seem, I’m ready for action, keep it goin’…/”

Directed by Nico Ballesteros, the visual shows Playboi Carti and Kid Cudi in, on top, and around what looks like a snow plow, draped in red light. Simple, yet very to the point.

Prior to the long-awaited Whole Lotta Red, Playboi Carti released his debut studio album Die Lit in 2018, which saw 19 cuts and features from Travis Scott, Skepta, Lil Uzi Vert, Pi’erre Bourne, Nicki Minaj, Bryson Tiller, Gunna, Young Thug, and more. That project landed Carti within the top five thanks to 61,000 album equivalent units during her first week of release. Before that, he released his self-titled mixtape in 2017, which boasted the break-out cuts “Magnolia” and “Woke Up Like This.”

In a past interview with REVOLT, Playboi Carti spoke on other rappers taking his style:

“It’s a dub, I don’t like that. But I do like … it’s cool. But you realize that, artists that I fuck with don’t sound like me. Sounding like me getting you signed, shit, rate it a 10…”
