At this point, it’s looking extremely likely that Ghetts will soon be releasing the best album of his entire career. Having already released the top tier singles “IC3” with Skepta and “Mozambique” with Jaykae and Moonchild Sanelly, the London legend returns with an emotionally charged cut titled “Proud Family,” which is produced by TenBillion Dreams and sees him reflecting on his family’s resiliences during more troubled times:

“Unconditional love, that get through anything miracle love, that nothing can’t top this pinnacle love, that spiritual love, that’s that original love/

Our family, proud family, from my granny to my children, mum you raised a real one, my nephew coming soon, got a cousin i ain’t spoken to in years, put i still got love for you, proud…/”

The track also comes with a visual courtesy of Nathan James Tettey, and is mostly presented via a split-screen format. On one side, viewers get to watch Ghetts during current times, bonding with his immediate and extended family, taking to a stage in front of a packed crowd, and creating music with his fellow peers — including the likes of Skepta, J Hus, Dave, and Stormzy, who makes cameo appearances. On the other side, he takes us back to his youth and incarceration, his eventual release, early rapping days, and how it was his family that kept him uplifted during that time. This is definitely the type of clip you’ll need to watch more than once.

It’s been a couple of years since Ghetts blessed the world with Ghetto Gospel: The New Testament, which saw 17 tracks and additional features from President T, Wretch 32, Donae’O, Little Simz, Stefflon Don, Chip, Kojey Radical, and more. That album’s official predecessor — Ghetts’ debut LP Rebel with a Cause — made landfall four years prior.

Press play on “Proud Family” below. Hopefully, Ghetts’ forthcoming effort — presumed to be titled Conflict of Interest, based on the video — arrives sooner than later.
