Chance The Rapper is responding to criticism that he has received about his music following the release of his 2019 solo album, The Big Day.

During a recent interview on Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning,” the “Hot Shower” emcee brushed off the hate. “I’m just really, really good at rapping,” he said. “So, regardless of what happens, I’ma always have that to fall back on — and if that doesn’t work, I can perform my old raps. If that don’t work, I can direct someone else’s raps. There’s nobody that can rap like me. That’s a cool thing to have.”

Despite the criticism about the album, it debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. The LP became his highest-charting project and third top 10 overall.

In related news, various outlets have reported that Chance is currently facing a lawsuit from former manager Pat Corcoran, who claims that the rapper owes him more than $3 million. The lawsuit also states that the Chicago native blamed — and subsequently fired — Corcoran over the negative responses about The Big Day. His team has since denied all accusations made.

Chance was one of the first artists who brought attention to Jeremih’s health issues with COVID-19. After spending weeks in the ICU, the “Birthday Sex” singer was finally released from the hospital. “I am filled with praise right now. I just heard my brother Jeremih’s voice on the phone for the first time in almost a month,” Chance tweeted. “He will be out the hospital tomorrow. We all give glory to the father in Jesus name.”

In a follow-up tweet, he added, “Thank you to the medical staff at Northwestern and thank you to everyone who held him up in prayer even when it seemed so grim. We are a testimony.”
