Offset says men shouldn’t be in “women’s business” after Snoop Dogg criticized “WAP”
The Migos rapper came to his wife Cardi B’s defense after Snoop criticized the hit song for its sexual nature.
Offset is standing by his wife, Cardi B. The Migos rapper opened up about what he thought in regards to Snoop Dogg’s criticism of Cardi’s hit song “WAP.” As previously reported, the California native shared his opinion on the song and said women in hip hop should be more “private” regarding their sexualities, especially in their music.
The “Bad and Boujee” rapper spoke to TMZ on Saturday (Dec. 12) and was asked about the comments and said it’s not his business what his wife chooses to write or rap about. “I love Snoop, man. She grown,” Offset said. “I don’t get in females business, so Ima just stay at that. I hate when men do that. I don’t do that. I don’t care if a girl would have said something bad about me. I just don’t get in females’ business. I’m grown. I’m from the south, though, so maybe the rules and the laws are different.”
The “Clout” rapper pointed out the double standard in regards to the things men rap about and get away with, while women get judged for talking about the same things in their music. “It’s entertainment. That’s a No. 1 record. So anybody can say what they want to say. Six times platinum in three, four months, it’s a No. 1 record and it wasn’t that bad because it went No. 1,” he said, singing his wife’s praises. “As rappers, we talk about the same shit. Men can’t speak on women. They’re too powerful. First of all, it’s a lot of woman empowerment. Don’t shoot it down. We never had this many female artists running this shit. They are catching up to us, passing us, and setting records. That’s two women on one record, that’s a very successful record.”
“I really fuck with Snoop, like, on a personal level. So, I could personally call him and be like, ‘Snoop, come on now.’ I don’t wanna seem like I’m dissing at Snoop, that’s my boy. But, at the same time, I say all men should stay out of women’s business. That’s women’s business,” he said, making sure he made it clear he has no bad blood with the emcee. “You ain’t gon’ have no win. Your comments probably looking crazy from just saying stuff like that. Stay outta women’s business. Women are strong right now. We should uplift our women. Don’t say what they can and can’t do.”
“You know how long been told they can’t do something? Or they shouldn’t do this? Or they’re blackballed out of entertainment and in the whole world? I stay out of female stuff,” he continued. “I have kids, too. But at the same time, it’s entertainment. You can go on YouTube and see people with videos of guns and talking about killing. You can’t be judgemental about certain things, and certain things we don’t.”
The hitmaker landed in hot water for his comments in an interview with Julissa Bermudez on Central Ave where spoke about the chart-topping track and how he wishes women would keep certain things regarding their bodies to themselves. “Oh my God. Slow down. Like, slow down. And let’s have some imagination,” Snoop said of the song lyrics. “Let’s have some, you know, privacy, some intimacy where he wants to find out as opposed to you telling him.” Fans took to Twitter to criticize the rapper and call him out on his hypocrisy, highlighting his past songs and other ventures, including his past ties to the Girls Gone Wild franchise.
