As Sinéad Harnett is steadily gearing up for the release of her highly anticipated sophomore album due out next year, the powerhouse R&B singer and songwriter enlists Johnny Venus of EarthGang to assist her on her latest song and visual “Take Me Away.” The video highlights individualism, the importance of community, and shines a light on the Black Lives Matter movement as Venus delivers a beautiful verse about intimacy:

I only wanna lie next to you, lately I’ve been feelin’ low. I can’t even turn the TV on or look down at my phone. I know men ain’t supposed to cry, know you need me to be strong. But I can bet you one thing, I’ll never leave you alone. See, this feeling’s worth more than gold. Worth more than wood floors, or a Lexus, or some diamonds in a Rolls Royce to impress us. When it comes down to it, we all need someone to hold. I’m on my way, baby, grab your purse, let’s hit the road.

In 2019, Sinéad saw the release of her long-awaited debut album, Lessons in Love. The London-born R&B vocalist came onto the scene thanks to a series of major collaborations with the likes of Disclosure (“Boiling”), Kaytranada (“Heal You” featuring Wretch 32, “Say What You Mean”), Snakeships (“No Other Way,” “Rather Be With You”), and on three of Rudimental’s tracks off his UK #1 album Home (“Home,” “Hide,” and “Baby” with MNEK).

“This year taught us more than we maybe knew was fathomable. It taught me how messed up the world really is,” Sinéad shared via press release about the video and her headspace about this time period. “But it taught me about what truly matters. Equality, love, peace, and hope. This video was a chance to illustrate escapism, to empower, to feel free. Directed by Andre Muir who took time and care to create a piece that was about more than just the song, but also the times we’re living in. And to my friend Johnny Venus, thank you for adding your magic and wonder.”
