D Double E and Skepta are on the run in βDONβ visual
The loose cut follows D Double Eβs latest album of the same name.
Back in October, D Double E unveiled his sophomore studio album D.O.N. (Double or Nothing), the first official follow-up to his 2011 debut Jackuum! The project saw 12 tracks and additional features from Giggs, Ms Banks, Ghetts, Jme, and more. In a recent interview with Esquire, the grime legend explained the meaning behind the new project:
βThis album is a bit more of me, the real meβ¦ Iβve been stereotyped as an artist. People have always thought Iβm this guy but Iβm really nicer than what people think. β¦ Iβve been a part of all these genres and thatβs part of my story.β
Late last month, he then teamed up with Boy Better Knowβs Skepta to deliver a new cut titled βDON,β which sees the duo delivering hard-hitting bars over Skeptaβs own top-tier production:
βItβs a bittersweet symphony, they say, βAn eye for an eye,β you die by the sword, hah, you canβt look for no sympathy, I get high so I can ease the pain, but still I could never touch yay like Kimberly/
I got rich and still I kept my dignity, all the old Gs fallinβ off, see Skeppy and D Double, thatβs who they wish to beβ¦/β
The accompanying visual is directed by Nicki βSlimTingβ Walker and Femi Oyeniran, and starts with the apparent aftermath of a heist. The clip then switches to D Double E, Skepta, and some attractive accomplices on the run from police. The duo can also be seeing performing the track while on dirtbikes, which may or may not have been a part of their getaway.
In additional to his own releases, this year also saw D Double E assisting on cuts alongside Kelly Allstar, Lewi White, Narst, Griminal, DonaeβO, Frisco, Shy FX, and more.
