Ice T is mourning the loss of a friend who passed away from COVID-19. The rapper shared the sad news with his fans on Twitter on Saturday (Dec. 5) with a heartfelt message saying goodbye to his friend, Ganxsta Ridd of the California rap group Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E., along with photos of him.

“I just woke up to the Terrible news.. My very close homie ‘Gangsta Rid’ of Boo-Yaa Tribe passed away yesterday from Covid,” he tweeted. “So sad. My love and condolences go out to the family. Folded hands.”

Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E. is an American hip hop group from Carson, California, and is composed of the Devoux brothers Paul, Ted who died in 2018, Donald, Roscoe, Danny, David and Vincent. The “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” actor has been open about the losses he has experienced due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Just last week he was urging fans to take the virus seriously. He shared his thoughts by sharing a personal experience he and his family went through. His wife Coco Austin’s father contracted the virus in June. He shared that his father-in-law used to be an anti-masker but that led to his positive diagnosis, which landed him in the ICU and is now having to use oxygen.

Fans responded to his messages and one contradicted the rapper’s beliefs. “There is no virus, how dumb can you just base your info on one side,” the fan wrote. “I have 6 DEAD close friends from this Virus.. You need to shut the Fuck up,” Ice T responded.

Other people were more comforting after he shared the news about Gangsta Rid’s passing. “How do you cope @FINALLEVEL? Seriously. I know this is only twitter but i think you lost like, 10 friends now. How do you cope? Do you hug coco and little one? Do you get in the studio? Do you look at the moon? How does Ice-T deal with loss? I’m asking for real #fltg,” the fan shared.
